WHY CULTURE?

Culture is like the DNA of a society; it defines the attributes that make us distinct, as a people, among the wider populations of the world. It answers the question "What’s Windsor Essex all about?" in deeply meaningful ways that reveal our innermost character. Here’s how local contributors describe its importance:

Culture is the "local flavour" of our community. It’s the "expression of self" of the people – both the historical and the fanciful – who have lived here. It comes to us through writings, music, art, fashion, dance, festivals, institutions and more. It includes the physical and geographical structures that remain from our past and that helped shape our present. Culture is the sum of what we have been and is an arrow that points toward what we may become.
